Suicide Prevention: The Journey and Purpose of Here Tomorrow

 The Beginnings of Here Tomorrow

Joe Kenney felt powerless when his son, Gary, was despondent. Gary fought his depression by isolating his sole friend—his father. Although Joe had a wide network from his successful business career, he discovered that mental health resources were greatly insufficient. "I wasn't able to locate any assistance here." I was unsure of where to head or what action to take, and I am familiar with everyone. “How is the typical individual meant to seek assistance?” he inquired.

In April 2019, Gary took his own life. Heartbroken yet resolute, Joe vowed at Gary's funeral to build something that would stop others from enduring the same sorrow. By April 2021, Joe's dream materialized. He became front-page news only two months after launching Here Tomorrow, a group focused on suicide prevention via peer support and accessible mental health services.

Overcoming Obstacles to Mental Health Assistance

Since its establishment, we have been tackling the major barriers to mental health care: cost and accessibility. Since 2021, the organization has offered free suicide prevention services to more than 2,000 people in distress. There are no waiting lists or financial obstacles—only prompt assistance.

Our influence reaches farther than just those facing a crisis. Assistance is also offered to worried friends and family members who are anxious about a loved one's well-being. Through involving family and friends, the organization builds a network of compassion and comprehension, enhancing support structures and promoting lasting recovery.

Certified Peer Support for a Better Future

The essence of Here Tomorrow lies in its Certified Recovery Peer Specialists, who support friends and family during the healing journey. These companions offer hope, foster trust, and support individuals as they progress through their mental health journey.

We organize weekly support groups five days a week and link individuals with licensed therapists whenever necessary. The organization completely finances 12 to 16 therapy sessions with selected mental health experts to guarantee a personalized and effective experience.

An essential support for individuals in distress

Preventing suicide begins with building connections. Here Tomorrow transcends being just a mental health organization; it is a community committed to making sure that no one confronts their challenges by themselves. By eliminating obstacles and nurturing hope, we are transforming lives, one individual at a time.

If you or someone you are aware of is having a hard time, don't hesitate to seek help. Assistance is available. Hope exists. And above all, there is a tomorrow.
